| Parents,
Students, Staff & Community Members of GASB share why they love and support our special school… |
|
“Being Pastor of GASB from July, 2001- June, 2004 was one of the
greatest joys of my priesthood! I love the school Masses, was inspired
by the dedicated teachers, administrators and staff, and was moved by
the enthusiastic support given by parents, grandparents, and community
members. What a blessing the school has been in past generations and continues
to be today. I love it!” **** “When our family moved to Colton, I didn’t know what GASB was about. I wasn’t raised Catholic and did not attend a Catholic school myself. One afternoon, my son and I were invited into the 5th and 6th grade room to work on a holiday project. I felt very welcomed and enjoyed seeing my 5 year old interact with older students. Now that both of our children are students at GASB, I can see we made the right choice for their education. Academically they are challenged by their teachers who don’t settle for average work. Spiritually they are growing to become faith filled people in a community that is supportive and encouraging. Students are held accountable for their actions and are expected to live their lives in service to others. Our children feel safe and secure in their learning environment. The success of GASB is truly a “team” effort of teachers, students, parents and community.” -Kim Schultheis, a Parent of a 2nd and a 4th Grader **** “This is such a fun and uplifting school! We go to church every Friday, and every First Friday the entire school gathers in the gym. We all sit quietly and the teachers give out awards to students in each class for Character Education. We do this every month for the whole year.” -Royce, 8th Grade Student “I love GASB because I get to see my friends everyday. I know everyone in our school. I love how we all work together! The staff is wonderful. GASB rocks!” -Kendyl, 4th Grade Student “At GASB, we are dedicated to developing well-rounded, mature young adults. Yes, we are fully devoted to improving a student’s aptitude in math, reading, writing and the other subject areas. However, we also take great care to see that the children and young adults under our watch develop spiritually, socially, and emotionally. At GASB, we want to see our students become great people. This means guiding them with their faith, their interpersonal relationships, and their sense of community.” -Pat Doumit, 7th/8th Grade Teacher “I like GASB because everybody here is friendly, and you can remember everybody’s name!” -Reece, 2nd Grade Student **** “This school gives students a good education. The grading scale is way higher than the average grading scale, so the teachers expect more from their students.” -Jake S., 7th Grade Student “GASB is our second family and home.” -Jerry Weber, Parent of a 7th Grade Student. |
“This school is great! I have been here for eight years, and I have found through my experiences that this school is better than most. They will help with any problems that will arise. The student ration is 10/1 which is very small. So you will get more one-on-one time. You will also learn better with those small class sizes. They will teach you to be good problem solvers who can solve anything. It has practically been here since the dawn of time, so you know that you will receive good teaching. Everywhere you look you see a piece of history. For example, parents even went here, and some of our grandparents too! That goes to show how dedicated we are in our mission to be the best we can be!” -Joe, 8th Grade Student **** “I love GASB because we get to go to Rollaway, we have fundraisers, get cinnamon rolls on First Fridays, have a Mini Mart to buy things like erasers and popcorn, and get good lunches like pizza!” -Dakota, 2nd Grade Student “GASB is more than a teaching assignment; it’s my calling from God! Everyday I am allowed to educate the whole child, teaching students about the Gospel and living faith-centered lives of service. I’m allowed to push my students to levels not usually expected for their age with full support from my principal and parents. I’m surrounded by other professionals who I work cooperatively and closely with, and share my vision for teaching. I’m part of a school environment that is so unique and special that it’s hard to describe with words. Everyone who walks into GASB is filled with a sense of love, respect and community that is GASB. I’m so grateful for being a part of the GASB family, where God’s mission for my life is supported and appreciated.” -Kim Marquardt, 3rd/4th Grade Teacher **** “I love GASB because it is a very nice, loving school where you are treated with one-on-one kindness from each teacher.” -Kamryn, 6th Grade Student “GASB is unique in that we are able to intertwine faith into all that we do- it defines who we are- a Catholic, Caring, Community!” -Lori Becker, Parent of 4 GASB Graduates & Our School Principal “When our son, Evan graduated from GASB & planned to transfer to the Pullman school system in order to get more diversity, we were concerned that he might be behind academically. On the contrary, he was much further ahead of his peers & his study skills were superb by comparison. The life skills fostered by GASB has also helped him become a leader among his peers and given him the confidence to experience new things. GASB helped him become a very “nice” person.” -Liz Davies, Parent of a GASB Graduate& 5th Grader “I like GASB because it has excellent teachers, and I have lots of good friends.” -Kian, 1st Grade Student |
