Principal's Report
May 2010

Dear Parishioners,

As I write this final newsletter for the 2009/2010 school year, my heart is heavy as we say good bye to two of our teachers. Kristen Janowiak (1/2) will be leaving us as her family is moving to South Dakota where her husband recently accepted a position as Vice President of Student Development at Briar Cliff University. Audrey Bell (5/6) will be making her way across to the other side of the country where she has accepted a position as a nanny for a family in Connecticut. We have appreciated these ladies and all they have brought to our classrooms. Their gifts and examples that they have shared with our students and community are numerous. Thank you for your time, commitment, and love that you leave us with.

As we complete our school year, I want to thank all those people who have served on our many committees. The Finance Committee met several times and created a budget for the 2010-2011 school year. This was proposed to the School Advisory Council. SAC approved the budget for 2010/2011 and recommended it to Fr. Ed for final approval. Thank you for your time, work and dedication that you give to GASB.

The RoadRunner Club was established to promote GASB to outside donors and alumni. 2010/2011 year will bring a renewed enthusiasm for spreading the good news of GASB and expanding this clubs base.

This year we were able to complete our Social Studies Curriculum and all books have arrived and are ready for use in the fall.

Facilities and Maintenance Committee have completed projects this year and will have a parent workday on June 12 from 8:00 – 12:00.

The Recruitment and Retention Committee has had a great year – The group has met, planned, and implemented many activities through out the second half of the year. GASB became a member of the Lewiston Chamber of Commerce. Through this membership we are able to advertise in their “Welcome Packets” that are sent out to new families moving to the area. Our focus for new students has been reaching out to St. Mary’s Parish in Genesee and Sacred Heart Parish in Pullman. We are very excited to expand GASB to include Kindergarten next year.

Our School Advisory Council meets monthly and gives tirelessly of their commitment to the continuation of GASB.

As we conclude this highly successful school year and look with excitement toward 2010/2011, GASB School can claim strength in four critical areas:

  • Sound financial status and responsible budgetary practices
  • Stability and dedication in personnel
  • Continued academic growth and challenge for students
  • A sincere commitment to the mission and philosophy of Catholic principles in the education of children.

The staff at Guardian Angel – St. Boniface School extends our appreciation to the parish communities of St. Gall and St. Boniface for their dedication and commitment to keeping this mission of our church alive. May your summer be filled with the blessings that are bestowed on us from above.

Lori Becker, Principal
